Ari Lennox
Courtney Shanade Salter, born April 26, 1991 often referred to professionally by the name Ari Lennox, hails from Washington, D.C. and was the first female signing for J. Cole's Dreamville Records label. The label released her first EP titled Pho in October 2016, and she was able to gain recognition. Shea Butter Baby her debut studio release was May 7th 2019. Ari Lennox first uploaded music online in 2012. The singer released her debut album Ariography and her mixtape debut in 2013 with Five Finger Discount. In 2014 Ari Lennox released her own single Bound along with the mixtape she self-released, Five Finger Discount. The song Sweat it featured on Omen's Elephant Eyes album which dropped on July 21 2015. Later that year her music began to circulate throughout the Dreamville team, as J. Cole wanted her to work with him on some references for Rihanna. On December 8, that she was signed to Dreamville Records. Backseat, a track she performed together with Cozz in The Revenge of the Dreamers II collaboration album. In October 21st, 2016, her debut EP was released under the name Pho. Ari Lennox performed the song Change by J. Cole as well as being an opener on The 4 Your Eyez Only Tour 2017 in which she was joined by EarthGang. In 2018, she appeared on two songs alongside her labelmates EarthGang for Nothing but the Best. and Bas On Icarus. Ari Lennox, on the 16th July, 2018 she released her debut single "Whipped Cream" from Shea Butter Baby. The music video for it was also released on September 5th. The second single she released was Grampa on November 9. Then on the 13th of November, two brand new singles titled No One and Pedigree. Shea Butter Baby. Shea Butter Baby later made appearances on the Creed II album soundtrack alongside Cole. She dropped this single as a way in order to announce her debut album Creed II on 26 February 2019. The track was accompanied by the music video which debuted in February 20th, 2019, and it surpassed the milestone of 3 million views via YouTube within one week. In support of the track she performed in concert with 6LACK during December 2018 on their From East Atlanta With Love Tour.
